The Graduation show at NAS has led me to be picked up by the new gallery Hand of Law, who will open in Erskineville, Sydney, in February 2012. I will provide updates as to the official gallery opening dates.

The National Art School in Sydney is organising an end-of-year graduate show, with works from the students. My triptych Departure will be shown there.

Come by for the opening on November 1^st, 6–8pm, or anyday until the 10^th (10am–4pm). Studios will also be open on the 2^nd and 3^rd of November (same times), where you will be able to see some other works of mine.

The NAS campus is located on Forbes St, in Darlinghurst/Wooloomooloo.

I have just finished writing my dissertation for the honours program in Fine Arts I have been following at National Art School in Sydney. Most of the paintings I have finished in the course of this work are present in the gallery. The introduction reads something along the lines of the following.

Visual, literary and oral storytelling have been a great part of society since the first humans. My motivation to continue in this tradition is based on the experience of coming from a family culture whereby tales that do not allow the truth to get in the way of a good story are passed down through multiple generations.

My research project has focussed on the investigation of the use of compositional devices, more specifically space and colour, as used by figurative painters to create a dramatic narrative space. The narratives that I have focussed on for this project have been primarily sourced from the Darwin Awards. The Darwin Awards were created by author Wendy Northcutt to recognise individuals who contribute to human evolution by self-selecting themselves out of the gene pool by achieving death in ludicrous situations. I have used each tale as a starting point for the general narrative in each painting as they tend to combine drama and humour, which are two integral parts of the human condition.

In there, I discuss some paintings produced by Max Beckmann, Steven Campbell and Sue Coe, who all use space in various ways to create narrative structure in their work.

Artists Wanted: A Year In Review is an international competition for emerging artists. The prizes include grants and an exhibition in a New York art show.

As you may have guessed, I have entered this competition. If you appreciate my art, don't hesitate to visit my Artists Wanted profile. There is a People Choice Award, so don't forget to vote while you're there!

While I'm at it, I've also updated the gallery here to include my two latest paintings. They are still on display at Monstrosity, so don't hesitate to drop by to get a better view. I may even be there.

I've been invited for the group show Four at the Monstrosity Gallery. It will feature some new work I've been busying myself with over the last few months. They are not in the online gallery yet, so you'll have to come to the opening for a primer!

The show will open on the 21^st of January, at 6pm. I and the other featured artists (Adrian Baiada, Rebecca Murphy and West) will be there. So should you! The show closes on the 18^th of February.

The opening last week went well! Thanks to all who attended. It was a wonderful evening.

I will also be giving an talk about the art (and other things) at the gallery on Sunday 5 September at 1pm. Some other artists may join. The afternoon will be ended with a barbecue.

Also, the late comers would be happy to know that the show has been extended to the 22th of september.

I am finally going to expose you to my inner workings in an exhibition that has been described as both “brutally honest” and “horrifying.”

I am setting up a solo exhibition at the Monstrosity Gallery. The opening will be on the 27th of August, from 6 to 9. The address hasn't changed: 93 Bourke St, Woolloomooloo.

Due to hording my work for the past 4 years, this is the first piece I have had in a show for some time.

It will take place on the 30th of April, from 6pm to 9pm at the Monstrosity Gallery (93 Bourke St, Woolloomooloo).
