Biography
Jenny Cuthbert is a Sydney-based figurative artist who works primarily in oils. She focuses on narratives sourced from urban and historical myths, using them as jumping off points to create a dark humour and drama within her paintings. Cuthbert is interested in influencing her narratives through the use of compositional devices such as the discordant use of space and colour, which are intended to heighten the tension within her pictorial planes.
She has had several solo shows since 1999, and is currently planning a trip to the United Kingdom, where she will source fresh narratives from regional communities.
